CollaBuild Year 3

A radical new student accommodation prototype for the Harrow campus of the University of Westminster encourages collaboration and self-building. This project is an extension of a larger-scale masterplan, developed in conjunction with the Semester 1 proposal, The Continental Gardens, for a rejuvenated new campus.

Based on Walter Segal’s self-build method, it aims to engage and empower students in construction to take ownership by building and customizing their modular living spaces before moving in and starting their studies. The project is built on a 600 mm structural grid, with elements prefabricated, using off-the-shelf, standard-sized items.
